Lillie Porras Tapia, 84, passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 16, 2026. She was born on Feb. 7, 1942, on the Welder-McCann Ranch to the late Luis Porras and Aurora Rodriguez Porras in Refugio County. Lillie is preceded in death by parents, siblings, Jesse Sr., Carlos, Louis Porras, Helen Reyna, Leonor Lara and niece Rose Guerrero

Lillie worked in the medical field for many years, serving at Refugio County Memorial Hospital and Refugio Manor. She later moved to Houston, where she worked at St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System and retired from Tomball Regional Minor Care Center.

She is survived by her husband, Cipriano Tapia of Houston; her daughter, Mary Lou (Clifton) Robinson of Refugio; her sons, Vincent (Eduvigen) Cantu Jr. of Houston, Roland (Leonor) Cantu of Refugio, and Andy (Heather) Cantu of Baytown; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Honoring Lillie's wishes, a memorial service will be held at Moore Funeral Home on Oct 3.,1 p.m. – 3 p.m . with a rosary at 2 p.m. A private burial will follow on Oct. 4 at Holy Cross Cemetery.
